Their challenge
Historic Royal Palaces had reward & recognition systems that had been in place since HRP was formed. While the approach to pay and grading was transparent, some aspects had become outdated. As they embarked on the delivery of a new organisational strategy, they wished to review and update their approach to pay, reward & recognition to make it more fit for purpose, acknowledging it also needed to be affordable and sustainable. The review focused on three key areas: their pay structure and progression model; relevance and flexibility of benefits; and the approach to some allowances. Our solution
With a structure that leant heavily on time served in the organisation, there were concerns that practice was no longer fit for purpose and was potentially open to challenge. As an organisation, HRP wanted to review their market alignment, recognising they competed across several talent markets including private, charitable and heritage sectors. They also had concerns as to whether their benefits offering was flexible enough to respond to changing employee expectations and values and recognised their approach to some allowances, particularly for on-call or out-of-hours work, was presenting operational challenges. They required a consultative approach to seeking advice and building action plans, with a desire to include stakeholder input from across the organisation to shape the future frameworks. The outcome
Having interviewed key stakeholders, conducted focus groups with a variety of employees and audited existing reward practice, Innecto was able to quickly leverage experience in the sector to provide reassurance where reward practice was or was not aligned to market. Comprehensive pay benchmarking analysis highlighted that, whilst the organisation's pay structure and position in the market was positive, their concerns about application of existing frameworks were valid.Having interviewed key stakeholders, conducted focus groups with a variety of employees and audited existing reward practice, Innecto was able to quickly leverage experience in the sector to provide reassurance where reward practice was or was not aligned to market.
