Innecto launches cloud based job evaluation

In the modern business world, keys to success are often quoted as being around organisational flexibility and agility. But can companies prosper and grow without internal structure? Employees need to feel engaged by the business if they are to be motivated to deliver business goals, and part of this is about knowing where they fit in, and where they might be going.

Job evaluation has traditionally provided organisations with the basis for this job and grading framework, for the benefit of both employees and managers, and it still has a part to play in 21st century HR process. There are a number of options and frameworks available – how do you ensure that your chosen solution is right for your organisation, and delivers the required benefits?

So what is Job Evaluation?

Job evaluation provides the basis for establishing the relative ‘size’ of roles within a company, from the CEO to operational and administrative roles, so they can be fairly fitted into any grading structure.

But what about employees, how does job evaluation help them?  For people managers it’s about giving them confidence. It takes the emotion out of discussing grading and replaces it with fact, allowing a role to be accurately slotted into your business based on its relative value.  Armed with evaluation results, managers are empowered to make good recruitment and grading decisions. For the rest of your employees, it gives them an understanding of their opportunities for growth and development; how they can build their career and progress further in the organisation.

Most of all, job evaluation is a good first step in providing clarity and a sense of fairness around pay and is often a springboard for greater understanding through market benchmarking and the development of a pay framework. With these things in place, pay and grading becomes more transparent, clear and consistent across the business, leading to more engaged, happy employees.

That’s the case answered for job evaluation, but how can Innecto help?

How we can help

Innecto have been involved in multiple job evaluation projects for clients over the years and although we still carry out bespoke, full points factor evaluation framework design, we’ve taken our expertise, knowledge and experience to create our proprietary job classification system, Evaluate. The system is based on accepted ‘work levels’ theory and involves assessing different elements of a job against five factors – expertise, impact, resources, complexity and influence. Depending on the outcomes of these assessments, the job is given a level designation and can be fitted into a simple grading structure. We’ve just launched a cloud based version of Evaluate, making job evaluation quick and simple. Find out more about Evaluate online.
